Moscow newlyweds broke the century record

The Moscow newlyweds in 2022 have concluded more than 100 thousand marriages and broke more than a century record - such a number of weddings in the capital has not been 105 years. The number of registered marriages was a record for the entire period since the formation of the Moscow Registry Office, said Deputy Mayor for Social Development Anastasia Rakova.

Rakova noted that the mark of 100 thousand marriages is reached in the 105-year history for only the second time - the first time it happened in 2014.

Beautiful dates were popular among Muscovites in 2022. The most popular was 22.02.2022: about 1.5 thousand couples got married on this day. Also about a thousand weddings were 11.11.2022. Other popular dates - Red Hill (April 30) and the Day of Family, Love and Fidelity (July 8).

More than 14 thousand couples got married in unusual places in the capital - in stadiums, mansions, manor houses, Moscow City towers, on the Moscow cable car, metro stations and others. Such ceremonies increased by 40 percent compared with 2021. In social complex of the government reminded that the project of the mayor of Moscow "New addresses of happiness" is constantly updated, and in 2023 it is planned to open a new platform for weddings - a Ferris wheel on VDNH "The Sun of Moscow".

The most popular platforms in 2022 - the Eye Tower (restaurant "Birds"), Matrona's Temple of Moscow and park-hotel "Danilovsky" where in the summer registration is carried out under a canopy of fresh flowers. Also popular among Moscow newlyweds are the Spiridonov Mansion and the National, a hotel with a view of Red Square.

The most popular day for weddings in 2022 was Saturday, chosen by 30 percent of couples, with another quarter of newlyweds getting married on Friday. However, in the summer period are also popular weekdays, so in 2023 outdoor areas for weddings became available on weekdays and Sundays.

Marriage ceremonies in Moscow are also available for solemn registrations. In 2022 their number increased from six to nine. The most popular is the Wedding Palace No. 1, also known as the Griboyedov Registry Office.

At the peak of weddings, from June to September, about 45 thousand couples got married in the capital. The solemn ceremonies were held on weekends at 15-20 different venues besides the wedding palaces. On average about 500 couples got married every Friday and Saturday at unusual venues. The offsite marriage registration project is evolving, and a novelty of the 2022 wedding season was the registration of marriages on the water. More than 300 couples have created new families on board of a river bus during mini-cruises on the Moskva River", - said Svetlana Ukhaneva, the chief of Moscow Registry Office.

More than 130 state service centers "My Documents" are available for non-civil registration of marriages in Moscow.
